The Making Hour. 15

The last few weeks I’ve been having a great time sewing FORM Wallhangings (working them out to make them perfect!) and joining in with loads of online events. That’s the one good thing about the last year I’ve been able to go to some events I wouldn’t have been able to before. In the last month, there have been talks, chats and studio visits with Creative Entrepreneurs Club. As well as workshops from creatives with TOAST, including stitching repairs with Molly Martin last week.

It was great just to relax. A bit of stab stitching and running stitch to create a repetitive movement and sound to fall into. I got the same joy from taking part in this workshop as I do running our workshops. It was great trying some new mending techniques!

Molly was great and shared all her hints and tips to create strong repairs. It’s a stronger way that I’d done before and now can’t wait to attack the repair pile.

It’s been great being on the other side of the teaching because no matter what we’ve never learned enough. I’ve signed up to Molly’s darning repair workshop, to get over my fear of knitwear. This one might give me the guts to save my favourite orange jumper!

Take the fear out of something you want to try and check out all the amazing online courses available at the moment. Like on Creative Scotlands Opportunities page. You’ll see our FORM Modern Embroidery Workshop there too and on our Workshop page in case stitching textiles art is one of the things you’ve wanted to give a go! Whatever it is that you want to do but haven’t yet go do it!
